Cortisone is an anti- inflammatory medication that may be injected into inflamed skin. It is most commonly performed for acne (sebaceous) cysts to provide relief within 24-48 hours for painful lesions that may not respond well to topical treatments. It may be used for other conditions including keloidal scars and certain types of hair loss.
